I am an Associate Professor of English and Chair of the Department of English and Foreign Languages at Augusta University in Georgia. At Augusta U, I teach American literature and Southern literature, among other courses.
My most recent projects have focused on the presence of dead bodies in Southern fiction. I am interested in how Southern texts keep dead bodies around or dig them back up or reanimate them in some way.
I have a Ph. D. in American Studies from Saint Louis University and a B. A. in English from Western Kentucky University.
I am a native of Kentucky, and before moving to Augusta in 2009, I lived in St. Louis, Missouri; central Pennsylvania; Salzburg, Austria; central Minnesota; and South Carolina.
